Subject: Initiative tres maligne de MS... + NEW MICROSOFT INITIATIVE SUPPORTS SOFTWARE START-UPS Microsoft Corp has set up a new initiative to provide software start-ups with support to develop "innovative products" for the Windows platform. The Microsoft Developer Network will run the initiative, which promises discounts on software, access to new technology and marketing. The company fielded a token start-up, Redwood City, California-based UpShot Corp, to say how excited it was by the initiative. UpShot is designing web-based applications and is "really close to announcing the product." Its investors include Tom Proulx, co-founder of Intuit Inc and Ben Rosen, chairman of Compaq Computer Corp.
