Synchronisation of all management processes is done using ``locks'', which sometimes results in a dead-lock. When our transaction system will be in place, such problems should no longer occur.
At the same time, that system should allow an optimised repository management on local and remote sites, since only files changed during the last transactions will need to be checked. At present, repositories are updated using mirroring programs.
Software interdependencies are at present not handled. We are studying possible solutions as proposed in Fermi-lab's UPS/UPD [2] or in Depot-Lite [9], which could be used as a basis for ASIS product dependency management.
